Hello everyone! It’s been such a long time since I posted something. I have been busy, in doing nothing exactly productive. If the crown was given to someone for wasting time, believe me, I’d be the queen. However, I’ll try my best from now on to keep posting regularly. Today I bring you review of a book that had been provided to me (Like, two months ago.)  by the author for an honest opinion.

Goodreads : A grief-stricken candy-striper serving in a VA hospital following her brother’s death in Viet Nam struggles to return home an anonymous veteran of the Great War against the skullduggery of a congressman who not only controls the hospital as part of his small-town fiefdom but knows the name of her veteran. A name if revealed would end his political ambitions and his fifty-year marriage. In its retelling of Odysseus’ journey, Revenants casts a flickering candle upon the charon toll exacted not only from the families of those who fail to return home but of those who do.

There are many aspects of this story, a girl struggling with the death of her brother, what war brings to the lives of people who go into it, and a bully hidden beneath the post of a congressman. These stories are woven together in a way that it makes the plot more powerful and meaningful. It is a story filled with mystery, meaning and the kind of heartbreak you wouldn’t have expected. Although I liked Revenants a lot, and enjoyed the complex characters, their journey and the writing style, I hardly reach for books of this genre. What drew me towards it was the whole concept of a girl who, after the death of his loved brother, tries to help the ones struggling in the VA hospital and tries to overcome her grief throughout it. The one thing that I wasn’t a big fan of was the pace of the story, It was quite slow in many parts. If you are meaning to read something light, It wouldn’t be the wisest option to choose this book, as it requires much effort to get into it.
I enjoyed the flashback scenes between our main character; Betsy, and her brother Nate and It gave a good dynamic of their precious relationship. Although the book focuses mainly on war, it touches a lot of different topics and even hits us right in the feels. I liked the whole political tone and  how it plays an important role during wars. There’s violence, drama and mystery packed in one, and the fact that it;s a historical fiction novel inspired by The Odysessy makes it even more appealing. Do give it a try.
